about me.
I am an award-winning translator with twenty years of experience in the fields of literature, arts/humanities, travel/tourism and advertising/marketing. I am NAATI-accredited for translations from both English into German and German into English. NAATI is the Australian National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters. I am also a member of AUSIT, the national Australian association for the translating and interpreting profession, and AALITRA, the Australian Association for Literary Translation. My Master of Arts in History and Linguistics is from Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich (Germany).
I am a native speaker of German, with expertise in English at native-speaker level, and I translate from and into both languages. My translations have been published in the Sydney Morning Herald and in the Goethe-Institut Australia's cultural magazine, among others. My experience ranges from years in the travel industry, manuals and specialist articles from history and linguistics to blogs and articles on social and cultural issues as well as screenplays and talks, for example for the City of Sydney or at the State Library of New South Wales. In 2013, I was awarded runner-up at the AUSIT Excellence in Translation Awards for my work on Cate Shortland's multi-award-winning film "Lore".
